Some Families Are Hurt and they Don't Even Know It
Published on June 19, 2004 By Flaming_Rose In Home & Family
How small can some form of mistreatment be to call it abuse?

Is it parents screaming strings of curses at their children?
(aka: m*****f*****, b****, yes my dad does that sometimes)

I'm sure you could classify incest.

My dad suggests that it might be kids slacking off and not helping their parents.
There's no such thing as parent abuse, in my opinion.

Is it parents showing porn to their kids?

Violent physical beatings could also be called abuse.

Some people are abused. Maybe they think it's okay, or it's not abused.
Maybe they are too shy to admit they are abused.
Or too afraid.

Mental abuse nowadays is one that so many suffer and yet so many do not admit too, talk about etc. Mental abuse can be between children and parents, husbands and wives or vice versa, school companions and so on. Any continious put down vocally and repeatedly is classed as mental abuse. Any form of cruel and inhumane treatment is abuse be it a comment or action intended to hurt or offend.

I think that all of the things you described in your article could be classified as abuse....and while I'm not sure I agree with what your dad said, I DO think there is such a thing as parent abuse. What about the kid who curses at or hits their parents? Wouldn't that be abusive, too?

And yes, a lot of people are ashamed or afraid to admit they are being abused...or they've been told so many times that it's what they deserve, they start to believe that is the truth.

My sister had classes related to that. It was related to her majority, and it was interesting.

Did you know that forcing children to hold pee or crap longer in the car on trip somewhere is called abuse? It's just one of many.
